Description

Improper storage and handling of flammable liquids are major causes of industrial fires. The Justrite Standard Sure-Grip® EX Flammable Safety Cabinet with Self-Close Doors (model 894520) is specifically designed to store flammable liquids safely. With exterior dimensions of 65 in H x 43 in W x 18 in D (1651 mm H x 1092 mm W x 457 mm D), these yellow cabinets can hold up to 45 gallons (170 liters) of flammable liquids.

Constructed with a robust 18-gauge (1-mm) thick steel double-wall, the cabinet includes 1.5 inches (38 mm) of insulating air space for enhanced fire resistance. Its fully welded construction maintains the unit’s structural integrity longer and provides better fire protection by minimizing air gaps.

The high-performance, self-closing doors open to 140 degrees, featuring a patented concealed mechanism that ensures unobstructed access to the shelves. The doors automatically align to ensure they close in sequence, while continuous piano hinges guarantee smooth operation.

When used as intended, these safety cabinets with self-closing doors automatically shut in case of a fire. The doors, held open by fusible links, close when the ambient temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), as the links melt, triggering the self-latching system with three stainless steel bullet-slams at the top, bottom, and center. For replacement fusible links, use model 29988.

For added security, each cabinet includes an innovative U-Loc™ handle that automatically engages the latch without manual rotation. Cabinets come with a cylinder lock and key set, or you can use your own padlock. Trilingual Haz-Alert™ reflective warning labels with “FLAMMABLE – KEEP FIRE AWAY” are highly visible under fire conditions or during power outages when illuminated with a flashlight.

Model 894520 also features two patented galvanized steel SpillSlope® shelves that direct spills to the back and bottom into a 2-inch (51-mm) leak-tested sump that meets EPA requirements. The adjustable shelves on 3-inch (76-mm) centers meet ANSI MH28.1 standards, supporting up to 350 lbs (159 kg). Welded shelf hangers interlock with the shelves for maximum stability without flimsy brackets. For replacement shelves, use model 29937.

Additional features include dual vents with flame arresters, four adjustable self-leveling feet, and a built-in grounding connector. Its durable lead-free epoxy/polyester powder-coat finish offers excellent chemical resistance inside and out, reducing corrosion and humidity effects.
